Combined with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) outer sheath, it further enhances protection against moisture, chemical corrosion, and physical abrasion. The steel tape armor layer provides the cable with high compressive and impact resistance, enabling it to adapt to various laying environments such as direct burial, tunnels, and pipelines. It is especially suitable for installation methods that do not require additional conduit protection and can be directly buried underground.

Product Structure

XLPE Insulated PVC Sheathed STA MV Cable is composed of a T1R copper conductor , XLPE insulation, PVC wrapping tape Steel-tape armour and PVC sheath.

Conductor: Copper or Aluminium conductor , round standed or Shaped, Class 2 to IEC 60228

and GB/T 3956-2008.

Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene insulation,Insulation thickness, material property shall be as per IEC 60502-2 and GB/T 12706.2,GB/T 12706.3.

Conductor shielding: The conductor shielding should be made of extruded semi-conductive non-metallic material, and the extruded semi-conductive material should be tightly bonded to the insulation.

Insulation shielding: The insulation shield should be composed of a combination of a non-metallic semi-conductive layer and a metallic layer. A non-metallic semi-conductive layer that is tightly bonded to the insulation core or can be peeled off should be directly extruded onto each insulated core. Then, a metallic shielding layer should be wrapped around the non-metallic semi-conductive layer. It should comply with the provisions of IEC 60502-2, GB/T 12706.2, and GB/T 12706.3.

Inner coverings: The inner coverings shall be extruded. The materials shall be suitable for the operating temperature of the cable and compatible with the insulating material.

Steel-tape armour: In the multicore cables, the armour shall be applied on an inner covering complying double steel tape. The single-core cables for use on a.c. systems shall consist of non-magnetic steel tape.

Outer sheath:PVC sheath, Sheath thickness, material property shall be as per IEC 60502.2 and GB/T 12706.

Flame-retradant cable: Flame-retardant PVC outer sheath material shall be used. The flame retardant grades can be classified into three categories: Bunch A, B, and C.

Cable test

Routine cable tests include: 1) Conductor DC resistance test, requiring the DC resistance at 20ºC to comply with the requirements of GB/T 3956-2008 and IEC 60228; 2) AC voltage test, continuous at 3.5U0 voltage for 5 minutes, there should be no breakdown; 3) Partial discharge test, conducted according to GB/T 3048.12, no detectable discharge exceeding 10pC should be generated at 1.73U0 voltage, and the test sensitivity should reach 10pC or higher.

The sampling tests mainly include: 1) Conductor structure inspection, which shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 3956-2008 and IEC 60228; 2) The structural dimensions of insulation, inner lining, steel tape armor and sheath shall meet the requirements of IEC 60502.2, GB/T 12706.2-2020 and GB/T 12706.3-2020; 3) Thermal elongation test, which shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 2951.21-2008 and Chapter 9 of IEC 60811-2-1, and the results shall comply with the corresponding standards.

Type testing covers the following: the mechanical and physical properties and electrical properties of the insulation and sheath must meet the requirements of IEC 60502.2, GB/T 12706.2-2020 and GB/T 12706.3-2020; the single-cable burning test should comply with the provisions of GB/T 19666-2019 and IEC 60332; the bundled flame retardant test should also meet the requirements of GB/T 19666-2019 and IEC 60332.
