RTTZ Fire-retardant Corrugated Copper Cable

Tianjin Beida is a RTTZ Fire-retardant Corrugated Copper Cable supplier and factory in China. The cables consist of copper stranded conductors, synthetic mica tape insulation, and corrugated copper tape sheathing. These cables are composed entirely of inorganic materials, with a continuous operating temperature of 90°C. They can maintain power supply for 3 hours under flame conditions ranging from 950°C to 1000°C, without experiencing short circuits or disconnections. In the event of a fire, these cables produce almost no smoke or toxic gases. If additional protection is required, a halogen-free, low-smoke, non-metallic sheath can be applied over the copper sheath to enhance the mechanical and moisture-resistant properties of the cable.

Choose Tianjin Beida as your manufacturer and supplier, choose reliable RTTZ Fire-retardant Corrugated Copper Cable solution. We can offer factory direct prices.

Applicable scenarios

Application scenarios

RTTZ

Rated voltage of 0.6/1kV and below, suitable for power transmission and distribution in places with high fire protection requirements, especially for fire fighting and emergency power supply lines

High-rise buildings, hospitals, subways, tunnels, data centers, shopping malls, exhibition halls, garages, entertainment venues, chemical industries, metallurgy, and other high-temperature/flammable and explosive locations

WD-RTTYZ

Similar to RTTZ, it is also required to meet the low-smoke, halogen-free, and flame-retardant requirements for personnel-intensive enclosed spaces

Areas with strict requirements for smoke toxicity and light transmittance, such as subways, nuclear power plants, schools, hospitals, food factories, high-rise residential buildings, and large complexes

Product Structure

Cable construction and technical requirements

Conductor: Adopt the first or second type of annealed copper conductor.

Mineral insulation layer: It is made by wrapping fire-resistant mica tape or other mineral insulation tapes with similar functions.

Cable assembly and protective layer: The cable cores are tightly filled with materials possessing flame retardant and fireproof properties, and the protective layer is composed of suitable flame retardant and fire-resistant tape wrapped around.

Copper metal sheath: It is produced using copper strip argon arc welding technology and corrugated.

Sheath layer: It is made of halogen-free, low-smoke, flame-retardant polyolefin sheathing material. Generally, it is orange or tangerine, but black can be selected according to requirements.

Performance parameter

The RTTZ Fire-retardant Corrugated Copper Cable rated voltage is 0.6/1kV. The test voltage is set at 3.5kV, and the voltage is continuously applied for 5 minutes without any breakdown occurring during this period. The maximum allowable long-term operating temperature of the cable conductor is 90℃.

When laying cables, the ambient temperature should not be lower than 0℃. The minimum bending radius is 12 times the outer diameter of the cable. The mineral insulation layer is carefully crafted using multiple layers of fire-resistant mica tape.

At 20ºC, the conductor resistance must strictly comply with the specified standards for type 1 or type 2 annealed copper conductors in GB/T 3956 and IEC 60228. At ambient temperature, the insulation resistance of the cable should not be less than 100 MΩ·km.

In terms of fire resistance testing, it fully meets the standard requirements of GB/T 34926. The specific testing method is as follows:

Firstly, conduct C, W, Z tests in accordance with BS 6387 standard;

Secondly, the test shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of BS 8491;

Thirdly, conduct a fire resistance test according to GB/T 19216.21, with the temperature controlled at 950~1000℃, a fire exposure duration of 180 minutes, and a cooling period of 15 minutes. During this period, the cable must not exhibit short circuits or open circuits.

Precautions for cables

Installation

Laying method: It can be laid in tunnels, cable trenches, trays, troughs, and shafts, supporting both exposed and concealed laying. For single-core cables, it is prohibited to use magnetic conductive materials (such as iron wire) for fixation to avoid eddy current loss.

Bending and span: Control the bending radius according to the manufacturer's specifications. Reference for horizontal hanger span: For outer diameters ≤20mm, the span is 400mm; for those >20mm, the span is 800mm. For vertical support span: For outer diameters ≤20mm, the span is 1500mm; for those >20mm, the span is 1000mm.

Unwinding and fixation: Unwind the cable according to the direction marked on the cable reel to avoid twisting; refer to the above requirements for the fixation span within the cable tray.

Terminal and connector

Terminal fabrication: Remove approximately 300mm of insulation from the end conductor, crimp the wire nose, and use a megohmmeter to test the insulation resistance between the copper sheath and the conductor, as well as between conductors. After ensuring that the insulation resistance is satisfactory, apply a heat-shrinkable sleeve for sealing.

Intermediate connectors: It is preferred to use finished connectors with a fire resistance rating consistent with that of the cable body. During on-site installation, it is necessary to ensure sealing and insulation to reduce fault points.

Operation and maintenance

Temperature control: During normal operation, the conductor temperature should not exceed 90℃. When the conductor is not touchable and does not come into contact with flammable materials, the sheath temperature can be raised to 105℃.

Insulation testing: Regularly use a megger to test the insulation resistance to ensure no moisture or damage; the copper sheath needs to be reliably grounded to ensure safety.

Loss prevention and protection: Avoid scratching the sheath with sharp objects, and add protective sleeves when passing through walls/floor slabs to prevent mechanical damage.
