Product Structure

Bs 5467 Power Cable

XLPE Insulated PVC Sheathed SWA Power Cable is composed of a T1R copper conductor , XLPE insulation, PVC bedding, Steel-weirs armour and PVC sheath.


Conductor: Solid Copper or Aluminium conductor , circular or Shaped, Class 2 to BS EN 60228.


Insulation: XLPE Type GP8 as per BS 7655-1.3


Core Colour: 1 core: borwn or blue

2 cores: borwn, blue

3 cores: borwn, black, Grey

4 cores: blue, borwn, black, Grey

5 cores:green/yellow, blue, borwn, black, Grey

Above 5 coes: white cores with black number


Bedding: The bedding shall be extruded polymeric material consistent consistent with the operating temperature of the cable.

Steel-wires armour: Single core cable: aluminum wire armour

Multi core cable: steel wire armour

Outer sheath: The sheath shall be extruded PVC material as per type 9 specified in BS 7655-4.2.

Performance parameter

BS 5467 Power Cable possesses clearly defined electrical and physical performance parameters. Its rated voltage is set at two levels: 600kV and 1000kV, meeting voltage requirements in various scenarios. In electrical safety testing, the product withstood a 3.5kV test voltage for 5 minutes without any breakdown, fully demonstrating the reliability of its electrical insulation performance. Regarding temperature adaptability, this product has a wide operating temperature range and can operate stably in environments from 0℃ to +90℃.Meanwhile, its short-circuit temperature can reach +250℃, demonstrating excellent high-temperature resistance. Furthermore, this product possesses outstanding flexibility, with a minimum bending radius of 12 times its outer diameter, facilitating installation and wiring in various complex environments. In terms of flame retardancy, this product meets the BS EN 60332-1-2 flame retardant rating standard, effectively reducing the risk of fire.

Routine Cable Tests

Conductor DC Resistance Test: Conduct the conductor DC resistance test at 20ºC. The measured conductor DC resistance value must strictly comply with the relevant requirements of Section 2 of BS EN 60228 standard.

Electrical Cable Voltage Test: Apply a voltage of 3500V to the cable for 5 minutes. During this process, the cable should not experience any breakdown.

Sampling Tests

Conductor Structure Inspection: The conductor structure must fully comply with the technical requirements specified in BS EN 60228.

Dimensional Inspection: The dimensions of the cable's insulation, inner lining, wire armor, and sheath must all meet the specific requirements in Table 3 of BS 5467.

Single Cable Burning Test: The results of the single cable burning test must comply with the requirements of BS EN 60332-1-2.

Type Testing

Insulation Performance: The insulation performance of the cable shall meet the requirements specified in BS 7655-1-3.

Inner Liner Performance: The performance of the inner liner shall comply with the relevant requirements of Clause 9.2 of BS 5467.

Sheath Performance: The performance of the sheath shall meet the requirements specified in BS 7655-4-2.

Compatibility Testing: The results of the compatibility test shall comply with the requirements of Annex C of BS 5467.

Insulation Shrinkage Test: The insulation shrinkage test shall comply with the requirements of Clause 18.3 of BS 5467, and the test method shall be performed according to BS EN 60811-502.

Sheath Shrinkage Test: The sheath shrinkage test shall comply with the requirements of Clause 18.6 of BS 5467.

Sheath Tear Resistance Test: The sheath tear resistance test shall meet the requirements of Annex D of BS 5467.
